With an extensive career as a midwife, Jean first went to Africa in 1990s where she experienced FGM first hand. Upon the death through birthing complications and ultimately FGM, Jean was became determined to try and educate and stop this practice. One Woman at a Time was born.

Leanne has been a celebrity patron and fundraiser of OWAAT since the charity became official in August 2017. Not only has she raised a huge awareness for FGM and forced marriage, but she also travelled to India and Africa to witness first hand the struggles these women face. She was the host of our first empowerment ball in March and as a mother of 3 girls she is completely committed and passionate about empowering women across the globe.

6 years working in East Africa whilst studying for her Masters in Gender Studies and Law, Allys uses her experience to help educate girls on the importance of staying in education and refraining from FGM and early marriage.

Proudly working in partnership with OWAT to improve safeguarding, and risk assessment by educating police, UK Border Force, health and social care professionals and children in schools, colleges, universities including communities at grass root level. Also, supporting survivors of Gender Based Violence. My goal is to work towards the eradication of FGM, FM, CSE, County Lines, Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking through prevention training and empowerment

9 year old Harry has worked hard for the charity, organising fundraisers for his school friends and raising awareness about OWAAT amongst young people. Harry loves reading, learning new things, sport - especially football and basketball - and is a natural organiser with great leadership skills. He is an asset to our team.
